When I found out that I was interviewing Lola Mae I was pretty excited. Lola's photos inspired me so much and her way of capturing a photo is magnificent. She's a lovely girl it was great speaking to her.

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF.
Ok I’m Lola. I’m 14 years old and I’m from Boston. When I first joined instagram I shot pictures with just my iPod. As you probably know the Itouch camera is terrible! So when I became more interested in photography I bought my first camera which was the Nikon D3100 and his name is dough. My hobbies include trifling, taking walks into Harvard square (tourist area I live really near to) making clothing and “photography” I don’t consider myself to be a photographer though. That’s one of the reasons I don’t water mark my photos because I doth think they’re good enough to steal! Although I’m dyslexic, I love to write! Oh, I’m terrified of mermaids. As for photography I do a lot of self portraits but I am trying to branch away from that.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN ON INSTAGRAM?
My younger sister actually showed me last summer. When I used my IPod we shared the account up until December when I got my own iPod.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU USE INSTAGRAM?
I try to post one or two photos a day, but if I have a shoot that I think came out really well then I post maybe 3 or 4.

HOW ARE YOU INSPIRED TO TAKE PHOTOS?
My favorite photographer is Francesca Woodman. Her pictures really make you think. I’m inspired mainly by the people I follow on instagram. Tumblr is one of my biggest inspirations also. Or if imp reading and I find a quote I really like to try to interpret the picture in my head that I see when the quote read.

WHO ARE YOUR FAVOURITE INSTAGRAMERS?
My favourite instagramers would have to be @Savannnnnah, @Blondebitts, @Brittneypanda, @samchimmy, @youngcreature and @ghett0barbie.

HAS INSTAGRAM CHANGED YOUR LIFE?

I suppose it has. Now everywhere I go I bring my camera looking for inspiration. Instagram has and is helping me grow as a “photographer”. From the feedback I get from my followers I can improve my pictures easily! I see everything as an opportunity to edit and share.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO TAKE PICTURES OF THE MOST?

Myself? Haha! No I don’t have models yet, but my friends have volunteered so I use them.  I just think people (my followers) can relate better to other pictures if different people were in it.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?
My style used to be brighter with colours with deeper meanings but ever since I re-started, I’ve been happier with my new photos. Now my style incorporates more nature. I’ve also been doing a lot of double exposure.

DO YOU USE ANY EDITING SOFTWARE'S?
My editing software’s that I use and I think fit best would definitely have to be Juxtaposer, picframe, filter storm, photo studios and snap speed.

HOW DID YOU EVEN GET INTO PHOTOGRAPHY?
My aunt and uncle are photographers so I used to play around with their camera so one day when we were in New York we went to B and H (huge camera store) and I bought my Nikon and I brought it with my own money! My parents didn’t really like the idea of me having a camera so I just had to have it!

WHERE DO YOU HOPE YOUR GIFT FOR PHOTOGRAPHY WILL TAKE YOU IN THE FUTURE?
I wouldn’t call it a gift, my dream is to publish a book of my photography and teach photography one day.

BE SURE TO CHECK OUT @lola__mae ON INSTAGRAM.
